“After using Reading Success software the first year,
our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children returned
to school the following year asking us when they would
get to use ‘Itty Bitty City’ again. When young children
retain memories of a learning experience over the
summer, it is a good indication that the program had a
positive, lasting effect.” -Laura Clark,
former private school Principal and parent
“I can see how this would be really good for kids with a
short attention span.” -Lene Harris, State
Department of Education
“Reading Success is a tremendous program. Not only is it
for every reader, but it has also demonstrated
accelerated response with ESL and ELL populations.”
-Angelyn Keener, teacher
and parent
“With the Reading Success methods, I can teach reading
and language arts and be great at it. These methods have
opened my eyes to the merits of teaching young children
how to read.” -Jaronique Benjamin, University
education student
“This reading program has literally been
successfully applied to several generations of
students and has a well-established track record.”
-Stephen M. Camarata, Ph.D. Vanderbilt Kennedy
Center
for Research on Human Development, Vanderbilt University

he Instructor’s Guide includes chapters on classroom management/organization, student behavior management that works with at-risk children, pre-reading and reading skills outlined with lesson plans, creative instructional materials to duplicate that reinforce the reading skills, and evaluation instruments from pre- to post-testing.
The Reading Success software and workbooks are an excellent compliment to the teacher’s guide, but for basic survival in the
classroom, the teacher’s guide is the single best tool the teacher can have on the desk.
The genius of the Reading Success classroom program is that not
only does it work with every child, when the teacher follows the
program, but it increases job satisfaction for teachers as they see
their students progress from non readers to readers.

Historical note: Decades ago, Reading Success
author Mary Smithson Craighead developed an
early reading program for at-risk children that became the model for the first Head Start national program, which included her reading and positive behavior modification components. She also was an early consultant to the Sesame Street TV
program and has consulted for over 100 school systems. Her Reading Success program was designed specifically to include the special needs of
at-risk children. It is equally effective in
maximizing the learning potential of all students, in part because it is designed to allow children to progress at their own rate of learning. It is in use in schools and homes throughout the United States and Canada.
